Mark Farmer, MD

About

Dr. Farmer attended Georgetown University in Washington D.C. for both his undergraduate and medical degrees. He completed his internship and residency at Montefiore / Albert Einstein College of medicine in New York City. He then pursued additional training in complex arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He has resided in Fort Myers since 1993.

During his fellowship he was a team physician for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team that went to the World Series in 1993, and the Philadelphia Wings indoor Lacrosse team. He has been the physician for the Nuveen Masters professional tennis series, AVP volleyball, and the Florida Flame NBA development basketball team, in addition to several local high school teams.

Dr. Farmer specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee, in addition to primary joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He also has extensive experience in the treatment of fractures. He was the first physician in the area to perform an Osteochondral allograft transplant for the treatment of cartilage defects in the knee. Currently he is one of the only surgeons who routinely perform the all arthroscopic Rotator cuff repair.

Dr. Farmer resides in Fort Myers, where he lives with his two sons. His favorite and most enjoyable hobby is spending time with them.

He is an active golfer, tennis player, and loves to ski, which gives him a unique understanding of the importance of keeping you active with the minimum of downtime.
