Bring all insurance cards. It is important for us to have all the current and correct information.
Bring a government issued photo ID. A driver’s license or state ID is acceptable.
Bring your form of payment, if required.
Bring any slings or braces needed. You can leave your walker or cane in the car; we will have one to use while here.
Arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you to the center, receive discharge instructions, and drive you home. You will need someone with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
Morning of surgery:
Take a shower, wash with antibacterial soap, and brush your teeth. Do not apply lotion or powder to skin. Deodorant use is OK, except for under operative shoulder.
Remove all makeup, jewelry and contacts. If you must wear contacts, please bring your storage case for use during surgery.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can accommodate a large bandage or dressing over the surgery site.
Day of surgery:
You should arrive at your scheduled appointment time. We will call you the day before with a time. You will be admitted to the center, and we will begin preparing you for your procedure.
You will be asked to sign a consent form for your procedure, which acknowledges your permission for the physician and facility to care for you. Bring glasses if you need them to read.
Plan on being here 4 to 6 hours. This includes the time to get you ready, do the surgery and recovery. Once you are taken back to the preop area your family will not see you until you are in recovery.
